When Your Significant Other is Spendthrift
To say that my husband doesn't know how to handle money is putting it lightly. If you gave him $100, he would wind up coming back in the negative. So, I've decided for his own good, I'm going to start saving money for him. Because I'm the more fiscally responsible one, he's given me complete control over his finances. I've managed to keep him from going under, but he needs a little boost...one he doesn't necessarily know about. What I mean is, that after he gets paid every other week, I'm going to take $5-$10 out of his account and put it into my bank account. I guess you could mark this as "spending insurance" that way when my husband does overspend, and I have to inevitably bail him out...it will be his money and not mine that will be doing the bailing. This is also a good idea even if your significant other isn't a spendthrift. Just sock money away "just in case" every week and not use it until you had an emergency. This is what I plan on doing....hopefully, we don't have any financial emergencies any time soon.
